Ryan was just pointing at a photo on the shelf, and I realised that I had never gotten around to posting pictures of his 1st birthday party. It was actually on 1 July 2006, but better late than never, right?
The party was held at Artz Pizza, which we specially decorated for the occasion. Nothing fancy - just a few balloons and stuff. Cesare, Fabio and staff prepared a great Italian buffet spread for our guests!
One of the highlights of the celebration was Ryan's beautiful cake, which we ordered from Swiss Bakery. Originally, it was supposed to be a Ferrari F1 racer, but at the last minute we decided to switch to this cake instead. Came out beautifully, and we can always do the F1 car another time!
Of course, there were lots of children at the party, whom we entertained with some games including a pinata (that, incidentally, was an F1 car!). Special thanks to Nette's colleague Khatijah who brought us shopping earlier for the decorations and party favours for the kids. We're first -timers at all this kid-related stuff, so any and all help when it comes to such big occasions is always appreciated!
The Newton mention earlier reminded me of the very first website I created, way back in 1998. Back then, I was already a Mac nut, and decided to start my own Mac opinion site.
I posted one editorial, on the death of the Newton.
Anyway, I dug it out of my hard drive where I had archived it, and put the site back up on my iDisk.
So, ladies and gentlemen, fresh from 1998, I present MacWatch.
It's something that could only happen in the digital age, and we're richer for it...
I just imported a bunch of entries from both my previous blogs at LiveJournal and Blogger. Unfortunately, Vox hasn't yet implemented the ability to import all entries from another blog, so I think I've only managed the last 25 entries from each. It makes for an incomplete-but-fascinating look back at my recent past.
Hopefully, I'll be able to fill in all the blanks later. It'll also be interesting to review some of my previous entries, and blog about what has happened since...
(Note : The old posts have been tagged blogger and lj for ease of access...just click on the appropriate tag on the right. Tags are really useful!)
Right now I'm not sure if I'm even going to actually start a blog here. This would be the third blog I've started, after my original LiveJournal a few years ago, and then my Blogger one. Neither lasted, of course. The LJ was warm, homely and personal - but not as slick and not easily configurable. Then I started the one at Blogger - it was slick, configurable, but I could never get it to feel like 'me'.
For those not interested in the previous entry on football...

Dearest Nannette,
The past three years have flown by. Seriously, they've been the three greatest years of my life, because I've had the joy of sharing them with you. And, of course, for the past year, with our wonderful little Ryan.
I hope you don't mind my putting this mush up on my blog, but I just wanted to share with everyone how much happiness being married to you has brought me.
You're patient with all my quirks, foibles and moods. You put up with my ever-growing collection of Macs, DVDs, books, whatever, and my weekly Sports Comms and football sessions. Without fail, you're always there when I'm down, and always support me when I need it. You believe in me, you love me, and that makes me a different, better person.
Then there's Ryan. Whom you carried for nine months, and whom you continue to care for and nurture, with all of your being. As lucky as we are to have a beautiful boy like Ryan, he is so fortunate to have you as his mummy.
I thank God for bringing you into my life, and that we ended up together. I know that He will continue to look after us, just as He has blessed me with you.
With all the love I have,
Your loving husband, Christopher.

The two most precious people in my life -
The woman I love, and the son we love

was reading another blog where someone was reminiscing about life in RH, and dug this out of my harddisk...my final year room!
can click on the photo for the full-size version...
(btw, the photo is a little weird because it was put together from three (non-digital) photographs, back in 1998 after i graduated...think i was using a powermac 7300 running photoshop 3 or something like that...)
