Ryan was just pointing at a photo on the shelf, and I realised that I had never gotten around to posting pictures of his 1st birthday party. It was actually on 1 July 2006, but better late than never, right?
The party was held at Artz Pizza, which we specially decorated for the occasion. Nothing fancy - just a few balloons and stuff. Cesare, Fabio and staff prepared a great Italian buffet spread for our guests!
One of the highlights of the celebration was Ryan's beautiful cake, which we ordered from Swiss Bakery. Originally, it was supposed to be a Ferrari F1 racer, but at the last minute we decided to switch to this cake instead. Came out beautifully, and we can always do the F1 car another time!
Of course, there were lots of children at the party, whom we entertained with some games including a pinata (that, incidentally, was an F1 car!). Special thanks to Nette's colleague Khatijah who brought us shopping earlier for the decorations and party favours for the kids. We're first -timers at all this kid-related stuff, so any and all help when it comes to such big occasions is always appreciated!
"What? The Lakers are only offering me $120m for six years? No way, man! Tell Mitch he can do better than that!"
Ryan got this Laker jersey from his Uncle Richard for Christmas, and he's already on the 'phone with his NBA agent...
While I slowly sift through the hundreds (yes, 100s!) of photos from Ryan's 1st birthday party at Artz Pizza, I had to share this amazing photograph taken by his Auntie Sharon. Simply magic...
Haven't blogged in a long time, but this is a great way to resume...our Ryan turned ONE on 29 June!
There will be more photos of his big celebration at Artz, which was held on 1 July. But for now, enjoy these photos from the big day itself. There are also photos over on Auntie Trixia's Flickr.

Ryan in his rocker
Originally uploaded by yellowhandman.
Testing Flickr again, this time with a real photo of Ryan, asleep in his rocker. The main thing I'm trying to do is figure out the optimal size to export to Flickr, from iPhoto.
BTW I uploaded this to Flickr using the handy third-party export plug-in available at connectedflow.com, which is the website of the guy who also writes the xjournal mac client for LJ.No more blood in Ryan's poo-poo! Hooray!
Of course, he celebrated by peeing on me...twice...while i changed him. Whatever.
:)
(warning : graphic poo descriptions)
ryan is giving us worries again. he had two poos with mucous-like streaks of blood. searching the internet was generally reassuring, because most advice says that the baby is probably fine unless the blood-stained poo is accompanied by fever, vomiting and/or a really upset baby.
when nette called me in the office to tell me about it, i was asking so many questions about exactly how the poo looked, that she finally took a photo and e-mailed it to me - the things parents do...
anyway we are just back from sefton...dr low told us to observe him and see if the situation resolved itself. it probably isn't anything serious, again because the baby himself looks otherwise fine. he said it's probably just some intestinal irritation.
please pray that ryan will be fine. thanks!
poor little ryan has a slight fever...
he started crying at around 2am this morning, and simply wouldn't settle down to sleep properly after that. then we realised he felt a little warm (especially his little feet, unusually) when we woke up in the morning. so we brought him to see dr low at sefton.
he seems better now. took his medicine without too much fuss, and slept soundly from 10am to 2pm. mom's feeding him now, then hopefully he'll sleep happily again. no fretting since seeing the doctor.
it's odd when you realise that the orange-flavoured panadol drops he was prescribed is the first sweet-tasting thing he's ever had...
